What it actually feels like to start from zero — the part nobody writes about because it’s not a good story yet.

Everyone shares the after. The launch, the milestone, the round. Nobody writes the middle — the part where you don’t know if it’s working, where you second-guess every call, where “building” mostly means sitting with uncertainty.

Starting from nothing is less dramatic than it sounds. It’s mostly just doing the next thing.

The real work

The real work isn’t the product. It’s convincing yourself every morning that the thing you’re building is worth building. Some days that’s easy. Most days it isn’t.

That’s the part I want to write about. The unglamorous middle.
